It also aims to develop skills and provide training services for adventure enthusiasts.

As part of this first-of-its-kind collaboration in the region, experts will conduct a training workshop for trainers in Fujairah. This initiative aims to establish Fujairah as a premier destination for hosting such events and marks a significant step towards elevating the standards and regulations for the tourism and sports sector in the UAE.

Amr Zein El Din, Director of the Fujairah Adventure Centre said: “These initiatives could not have been possible without the continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. He has provided us with all the necessary capabilities to achieve the best possible results, which is in line with his vision to enhance Fujairah's position in the field of tourism and sports at the regional and international levels.”

The Fujairah Adventure Centre has been accredited as a member of UIAA, and as part of this initiative, Steve Long, the Training Panel President of UIAA and National Training Officer for the United Kingdom and Ireland, was hosted as a contributing trainer.

Steve Long said: “I am glad to be part of a distinctive project that aims to enhance training skills and competencies in Fujairah. It is undeniable that hosting training activities of this kind demonstrates Fujairah's ongoing efforts to attain a prominent position and develop its talented individuals, under the guidance of its wise leadership which has consistently shown its support for adventure sports by organizing various community events and initiatives of high quality.”

The training session will take place over six days from January 22 to 28, 2024 in Fujairah. The experts will be conducting two training courses - one to enhance the personal skills of the mountain leaders, and the other to improve their leadership skills. Based on these courses, a training committee will be set up in Fujairah.

This training program is part of Fujairah's efforts to contribute to achieving the UAE Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to establish the UAE as a leading global tourist destination in sustainable tourism.
