“Hamdan Sports Complex” achieves Outstanding Development and Increase in the Numbers of Hosted Championships & Camps

The Board of Directors of “Hamdan Sports Complex” stated that the championships & camps, which took place at the Complex during the last sports season, have witnessed remarkable increase.

 
This came during the second meeting of the Board of Directors in 2023, which was convened at Dubai Sports Council’s premises, and chaired by H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Shaafar, the Board’s Chairman of the Complex, in the presence of H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, the Deputy Chairman, and the other Board’s members; these are: Mr. Mahir Abdul Karim Jalfar, Mr. Tariq Abdul Rahman Al-Saleh, Mr. Saleh Al-Marzouqi – Director of the Corporate Support Dept. in Dubai Sports Council (DSC), and Mr. Abdulla Shahdad, the Complex’s Manager.
 
The meeting discussed current preparations for hosting the upcoming events & international camps.
 
H.E. Al-Shaafar confirmed that Hamdan Sports Complex, which is affiliated under the umbrella of DSC, continues to attain development & good results in terms of the increase of events & attracting of further athletes, referring that the Complex also continues to reduce expenses, based on the proper directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Chairman of DSC, and the direct follow up of H.E. Mattar Al-Tayer, the Deputy Chairman of DSC. He remarked that the Complex runs its works & activities as per an ideal investment policy for self-resources and implementation of the best practices to manage the Complex in such way that ensures continuous increase in the numbers of events & resources and creates successful ways to increase the revenues, boost operational performance & host further various events.   
 
The meeting reviewed the development occurred between 2021 & 2023, as the numbers of the annual organized sports events have increased to 28 Olympic & non-Olympic sports, besides several community events. Hamdan Sports Complex has also hosted many camps for Olympic & world champions who have named the Complex as a destination for their trainings as part of preparations for Paris Olympics 2024 and other upcoming international championships. The list of athletes who organized sports camps in the Complex comprises Olympic champions who won three golden medals & five silver medals; top of whom are the South Africa’s swimmer Chad Lee Chloe / the Japanese female swimmer Rey Canto / the badminton female champion of Denmark Victor Akelsen, besides other athletes who have won nine golden medals, three silver medals & bronze medal in international championships; top of them are: the French diving star Gary Hunt / Russian rhythmic swimming star Anastasia Akhipovskaya and many other stars. The meeting discussed the plan of work for the upcoming period and reviewed the list of several events & championships to be hosted by the Complex; approximately 45 local & international championships up to the end of this year, i.e. 10% of the events taking place in Dubai. 

The meeting dealt with the programs of the various sports academies, which have chosen the Complex as a destination for the daily trainings of their athletes. The meeting also referred to the list of camps, organized at the Complex by foreign clubs & national teams as part of preparations for the upcoming championships; top of which is Paris Olympics 2024. In this regard, respective bodies of the Complex have already received requests from several national teams & clubs of various countries in the world to organize international camps at the Complex as part of their preparations to participate in the upcoming Olympics and other world championships.     
 
16 governmental entities in the State have recently entered in cooperation & partnership programs with Hamdan Sports Complex to enhance common efforts, develop national sport, spread the culture of the exercise of sport and attract & distinctively organize further sports events.
 
It is worth-mentioning that Hamdan Sports Complex has hosted during the last years hundreds of championships & events in various sports, and attracted tens of thousands of athletes of multi-nationalities. The Complex has also hosted training camps for prominent athletes and top world national teams in various sports as part of their preparations for Olympic competitions & international championships.
 
The numbers of championships & camps, took place at Hamdan Sports Complex, have witnessed remarkable increase. The Complex has also hosted huge numbers of Olympic champion & world champions from the various countries of world who have decided to camp at the Complex as part of their preparations for Paris Olympics 2024. The numbers of sports games, held at the Complex during the first quarter of this year were 28 sports; these were: swimming, rhythmic swimming, water polo, freediving, underwater hockey, underwater rugby, fencing, gymnastic, diving, karting, cycling, running, badminton, duathlon, aquathlon, triathlon, basketball, volleyball, Kushti wrestling, karate, fitness, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, tennis, boxing, weightlifting, table tennis.
 
The meeting confirmed the importance of the continuity of the work according to the principle of ideal investment of resources, boosting of the global status of the Complex, attracting further international, regional & local championships which contribute to develop sport and enhance Dubai’s status in the global sports map.
