The Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain hosted an exceptional event where the interactive ‘Horses of Reading’ initiative brought a stunning procession of purebred Arabian horses to audiences at the 15th Al Ain Book Festival.
The initiative aims to celebrate Emirati heritage and send a message that combines tradition with a passion for knowledge, highlighting the important role books play as a bridge to preserve national values and pass them on to future generations.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) in collaboration with Emirates Arabian Horse Society and Abu Dhabi Police, the procession featured verses from one of the most renowned poems by Abu Al-Tayyib Al-Mutanabbi: “The dearest place in the world is a horse’s saddle, and the best companion in time is a book.” These verses were carried through Hamdan bin Mohammed Street, making their way to the ALC pavilion at the festival, where the activities are held.
The initiative, which created a memorable moment at the festival, highlighted the importance of promoting culture and books in society, encouraging people to read using innovative ways that reflect the deep connection between Emirati culture and the Arabic language.
Furthermore, the initiative aims to showcase key projects presented by the ALC, highlighting initiatives that contribute to the promotion and development of the Arabic language. It also emphasised the importance of raising awareness about preserving Arabic linguistic identity, cultivating its values, and strengthening its position at the heart of both Emirati and Arab society.
