Adapted by Peaky Blinders creator, Steven King, SAS Rogue Heroes re-enacts the true story of the origins of one of the most celebrated military organisations in the world, the British Army Special Air Service (SAS), during the height of the Western Desert Campaign of World War II.
STARZPLAY, the platform ranked consistently among the region’s top three subscription video on demand services, will drop the thrilling 6-episode mini-series on as a STARZPLAY Premiere on December 19, adding to its extensive library of exclusive western content and the latest in a pipeline of premieres debuting exclusively on the platform in the MENA region.
Set in 1941, the story begins in a hospital in Cairo, when, after a failed training exercise, young British Army officer David Stirling comes up with the radical plan to create a special commando unit which could operate deep behind enemy lines.
Winston Churchill personally gives Stirling permission to recruit the toughest, brightest, and most ruthless soldiers he can come across, despite the disagreement of many senior officials. And so, the world’s most famous yet mysterious Special Forces unit is created: the SAS. In a string of daring escapades, the series delves into the psychology of the group of maverick men who formed the SAS.
The British series, based on the novel of the same name by Ben Macintyre, stars well established actors such as Sex Education’s Connor Swindells, Game of Thrones’ Alfie Allen, as well as Jack O’Connell, Sofia Boutella and Dominic West. Other familiar faces that appear in the show include Tom Glynn-Carney and British-Egyptian actor, Amir El Masry.
The stellar production quality and electric soundtrack complement the plot of the griping show.
