DGW Signs An Agreement With Etihad ESCO To Establish Renewable Power Plant

 

Dubai Government Workshop (DGW) and Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) signed an agreement to establish a photovoltaic power station with an aim to increase contribution of clean energy and reduce carbon emissions. The agreement was signed by H.E. Fahad Ahmed Al Raeesi,  Executive Director  of DGW, and Dr. Waleed Alnuaimi, CEO of Etihad ESCO, on March 17, 2023, with an aim of strengthening bilateral collaboration in the field of renewable energy.

The plant’s capacity is estimated to be 2.49 MW, and in its first year of operation, it is projected to generate 3.79 million kWh of clean energy, reducing carbon emissions by 1.37 million kilograms.

H.E. Fahad Ahmed Al Raeesi said: “We are honoured to partner with Etihad ESCO, a leader in energy efficiency in buildings and renewable projects. The agreement reflects our commitment to collaborate with relevant entities that embrace ambitious national objectives and visions and set the groundwork for a green economy. The announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, marking 2023 as the ‘Year of Sustainability’ ushers us into a new era of sustainable growth in the UAE. Furthermore, DGW is dedicated to constantly implement strategies and innovations to advance the effectiveness and sustainability of our operations and services.”

Dr. Waleed Alnuaimi said: “We are pleased to sign this agreement with DGW and support its initiatives to construct a renewable energy plant within the DGW facility in Dubai. Etihad ESCO will continue to assist Dubai’s goal of being one of the most sustainable cities in the world , as evidenced by our support for the usage of renewable energy in accordance with the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030.
