As part of its participation at GITEX Global 2023, hosted at the Dubai World Trade Center from 16-20 October 2023, Digital Dubai, through its subsidiary the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, launched the Dubai Data Standardization Guide for government entities, which aims to standardize data entry procedures on these entities’ websites.
With this guide, Digital Dubai aims to standardize data structures across government entities, improve data quality, and enhance data connectivity to support the Dubai Government’s various initiatives.
His Excellency Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive, Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, Digital Dubai, stressed that Dubai’s data ecosystem has demonstrated its effectiveness over the years, helping facilitate people’s lives, supporting decision-making processes, and shaping policies in various fields for a better future. The launch of the Dubai Data Standardization Guide is a continuation of their efforts to improve the quality of the Emirate’s data during its comprehensive digital transformation journey.
“The achievements that the data sector has made and the significant benefits it has provided on all fronts would not have been possible without the close cooperation of all government entities and their efforts in data collection and exchange, following organized and unique standards,” H.E. added. “Today, we invite all these entities to benefit from the guide, adopt it, implement its procedures, and reap the positive impact it will have on user experience with its potential to synchronize functions across the digital systems they use in their everyday lives.”
For her part, Sara Al Zarooni, Director of Data Management and Compliance Affairs at Digital Dubai, said: “We designed this guide to provide government entities in Dubai with a set of data entry standards to ensure harmony among all government models and systems when it comes to collecting and storing data, in accordance with global data collection and storage standards.”
By introducing the new guide, Digital Dubai outlines standardized data input and collection requirements for government services, ensuring that all government models and systems continuously collect and store data accurately and in compliance with the Dubai Data Law.
The guide is designed to clarify the standardized data input requirements for each attribute used in government entities’ service models, while providing examples to illustrate the correct way to input this data. The requirements in this guide align with international data collection and storage standards.
The Dubai Data Standardization Guide offers an integrated mechanism for data collection in the Dubai government, consisting of 28 uniform standards, along with over 50 reference records, including available statistical classifications on the Dubai Pulse platform. It covers six dimensions, including personal information, demographics, local addresses, international addresses, and contact details. The guide will be made available on the Dubai Pulse platform as part of open data resources.
