Double Podium for UAE Team Emirates in Renewi and Deutschland Tours

1. Wellens moves into GC contention in Renewi Tour

2. Grossschartner podiums in Germany

Tim Wellens put in a stellar ride against the clock on stage 2 of the Renewi Tour to take second place in the Netherlands today.

The 13km TT starting and finishing in Sluis was won by Josh Tarling (Ineos-Grenadiers) with Wellens 14’’ behind to sit in 2nd place in the general classification ahead of tomorrow’s decisive stage finish in Geraardsbergen.

Wellens “I knew today was going to be important and I’m very satisfied with my ride. Today along with tomorrow with be really key for the General Classification. For the moment things are going well but here in this race every day counts and it can be quite an unpredictable race.”

Meanwhile at the Deutschland Tour Felix Grosscartner got himself in a good move in the closing kilometres of stage 1 to finish second in a three-man sprint on the road to Merzig (179km).

The Austrian moved away inside -10km to go on the hilly parcous along with Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal Quickstep) and Pavel Sivakov (Ineos-Grenadiers). Van Wilder came out on top but Grossschartner hung on for second and puts himself in a good position for the overall battle.
