Dubai Hospital Carries out more than 3,700 Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultations since the beginning of this Year.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Dubai Hospital has carried out 3,772 conultations for pregnant women.

Accute medical care services were provided to high-risk pregnant women who required joint medical care from different specialties  in order to reduce the risk of complications and protect fetal and patient health and wellbeing.

The hospital ensures that pregant women who need integrated medical care receive multi-specialist consultations during each visit based on thier needs so that they do not need to visit the hospital multiple times. This minimises the need for hospital visits and adds to their conveneince.

Dr. Maryam Al Raisi, CEO of Dubai Hospital said that the DHA and Dubai Hospital provide highly specialised, internationally recongised health services to patients. She said the hospital has highly specialised doctors who provide patient-centered care.

She said the hospital has an early pregnancy clinic for women who are under 12 weeks’ gestation. The clinic helps women through their early pregnancy complications and assesses and identifies each patient’s needs and provides emotional support.

The clinic assists and identifies early on any pregnancy complications such as abdominal pain or cramping, ectopic pregnancy etc. This clinic helps women through their early pregnancy complications. 

 Dr. Al Raisi provided an overview of the the services provided by the Maternal and Fetal Clinic related to the follow-up of pregnant women whose fetuses suffer from certain congenital and genetic problems or who have a medical history of genetic mutations that require high-accuracy interventional diagnostic tests to diagnose genetic and hereditary conditions. 

 The clinic follows up on high-risk pregnant women, such as cases of multiple fetuses with a shared placenta, fetal growth deficiency and cases that require follow-up by specialised medical teams. An integrated plan is developed in addition to providing psychological and medical support throughout the pregnancy.

 

 She highlighted the pioneering role played by the fetal echocardiography clinic, in cooperation with the Paediatric Cardiology Department at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital. A fetal echo examination is performed by specialised medical personnel to obtain an early diagnosis of congenital heart defects.

High-risk women who suffer from diabetes, lupus, rheumatic diseases, women with a family history of congenital heart problems and other conditions may require that thier fetus undergoes an echocardiograph.

In some cases, medical or surgical fetal interventions are needed and the baby receives follow-up care after delivery at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital. 

Dr. Lama Khaled, Consultant and Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dubai Hospital, reviewed the various services provided by the joint antenatal care and diabetes clinic in cooperation with the hospital’s Endocrinology Department.  She added that the clinic has received  450 pregnant women since the beginning of this year. She said that the clinic helps manage blood sugar levels and minimise the risk of any diabetic complications during pregnancy, thus significantly reducing the risk of hospitalization and optimising maternal and fetal health and wellbeing.

Dr Khaled said that  the Pregnancy Care and Joint Rheumatology Clinic, in cooperation with the Department of Rheumatology at Dubai Hospital, provides multiple services for women with various rheumatic diseases through a joint medical team from the obstetrics and gynaecology and rheumatology departments.  She said 277 women have attended the clinic since the beginning of the year. 

 She said that the clinic for pregnant women and cardiology provides joint services in cooperation with the Department of Cardiology to assist pregnant women with heart conditions. She said patients in this clinic are closely monitored from the beginning until childbirth and all measures as well as precautions are put into place to help minimise any risk of complications. 

She added that 71 patients visited this clinic from the beginning of the year. 

Dr Khaled highlgihted that the hospital is highly specialised and provides integrated and holistic care for pregnant women under one roof so that they receive high-quality continum of care throughout their pregnancy.
