Emirates Health Services and Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Development of a formal framework for cooperation between the two entities

Emirates Health Services (EHS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) to jointly work and set formal frameworks for cooperation in the fields of research, policies, health training and professional development, in a participatory framework that enhances the work environment.

The agreement signed between the Medical Services Sector at EHS and MBRSG in the presence of Dr Essam Al Zarouni, Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector, EHS, HE Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President, MBRSG, and Dr Noor Al Mheiri, Director, Mental Health Department, EHS, along with representatives from other EHS departments.

 

The agreement supports joint health research activities, information and data exchange, health policies validation, and capacity building to continuously provide healthcare services based on innovation and evidence-based practice.

 

Dr Essam Al Zarouni commended the agreement, stating that partnerships are the building blocks of EHS interest in a multi-sectoral approach to providing quality services and sharing expertise at the local and global scales.

 

Dr Al Zarouni added that EHS is proceeding according to an integrated strategy aimed at empowering competencies and professional skills of the healthcare workforce, through the knowledge, expertise and experience exchange between government and private bodies inside and outside the country, in accordance with the specializations that characterize the partners, and in line with the country's strategies and aspirations towards the integration of public and private work.

 

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri said that MBRSG possesses the expertise that qualifies it to play a greater role in developing the policies of various government and private institutions in the UAE, the region, and the world.  MBRSG works keenly to provide an advanced vision and global experiences to various sectors, he said, in addition to its capability to improve performance, develop human capabilities, develop leaders, and enhance their decision-making ability.

 

Dr Al Marri said: "We are pleased to cooperate with Emirates Health Services, because this sector is of paramount importance in order to preserve the health and well-being of society in accordance with the best systems. For our part, we will work with EHS to serve the common interests, in terms of developing health service policies and enhancing capabilities and skills of the healthcare workforce which benefit the entire sector in the UAE.”

 

Dr Noor Al Mheiri, Director, Mental Health Department, EHS said that the memorandum focuses on mental health in line with the national mental health policy, which urges strengthening multi-sectoral cooperation, capacities, improving information systems, collecting, using and activating data, and conducting mental health research for the purpose of developing its services.

 

Dr Al Mheiri added that this cooperation supports the direction of the UAE government to promote mental health as a priority to support society.

 

Through the agreement, the two sides seek to enable the flow of knowledge and facilitate research through cooperation and information exchange, access to databases and to find ways of cooperation in terms of developing health service policies, in line with their goals and aspirations.

 

The agreement also provides for research, development, and provision of high-quality executive education courses on management of public policy and governance, including policy assessment, particularly health policy, monitoring of results and evidence integration, as well as educational opportunities to include the institution's staff in academic programs.
