EHS highlights the importance of "Medication Safety”
Emirates Health Services (EHS) organized a series of activities and events to celebrate World Patient Safety Day under this year’s World Health Organization theme — "Medication without harm" — with a focus on the topic of "Medication Safety".
Events were held from 12 to 16 September and attended by health care providers from hospitals, facilities and health centers affiliated with EHS to mark the annual day which falls on September 17.
Activities focused on medication safety, patient safety, priority EHS areas for attention, ensuring the comprehensive health of the UAE community, providing high quality medical services and improving patients’ treatment experiences.
Events also included a scientific symposium which brought together external speakers as well as EHS employees and specialists to discuss the role of health care and hospitals in enhancing medication safety as well as best practices in this field. The EHS also participated in one of the largest projects to enhance the safety of the use of vaccinations in schools.
In addition, EHS is organised an event on September 17 illuminating Dubai Frame in orange light as part of its efforts to raise public awareness of the importance of patient safety.
The aim of World Patient Safety Day this year was to inspire countries to ensure patients are protected from unsafe medication practices, such as the misuse of medicines, the overuse of medication, the simultaneous use of multiple medications, and confusing medicines with similar names.
