Emirates Health Services (EHS) continues to score highly on performance indicators that assess the organisation of community events and initiatives. The institution organised 676 events across its health facilities in the first half of 2022, compared to 927 events organised in all of 2021, where EHS surpassed the target it had set to host 650 events. The events recorded a satisfaction rate of more than 91% for the second year in a row, when calculated on an annual basis.

The series of events, campaigns, and communication activities EHS organised received wide media coverage, which contributed to strengthening the institution’s corporate identity and presence with specialised visual materials, news, and media reports.

Rashid Al Ali, Director of the Communication and Marketing Department at EHS, said: “Emirates Health Services’ success in organising this significant number of activities is a continuation of its impressive track record in planning and implementing events in 2021, and comes as a result of the tremendous efforts made by team members across departments, who constantly strive to cement the institution’s position and role on every level.”

Al Ali stressed that the institutional work environment played a major role in achieving these positive results, and exceeding the target number of events for 2021, including campaigns, activities, and workshops – all of which succeeded in meeting their objectives.

For her part, Kholoud Al-Obaidly, Head of the Events and Strategic Communication section at EHS, explained that: “The strategy pursued by Emirates Health Services aims to enhance the role that events play and to ensure they are organised sustainably, given their prominent role in developing the work environment and raising community awareness. Organising conferences and events is one of the most innovative ways to communicate EHS’ visions and messages.”

“In addition to raising awareness, organising events and activities serves to enrich and develop participants’ knowledge and experiences in the field of planning, organising, and managing events and activities, introducing them to the basic scientific knowledge needed to succeed in the field,” Al-Obaidly added.

A series of events

Emirates Health Services launched a series of notable and diverse events – whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid – which included environmental, health, cultural, social, happiness, nationality, charity, and volunteering campaigns, among others, targeting all segments of the community, from senior citizens and People of Determination to mothers, children, workers, patients, and supporting categories.

Blood donation campaigns were among the most successful of all the activities. A total of 242 campaigns were launched with 10,857 blood donors participating in the first half of 2022. The campaigns received 11,952 requests for blood donation.

An annual programme to honour blood donors and supporting entities was also organised, with more than 70 people in attendance. Furthermore, a Blood Donation Ambassadors initiative was also implemented in collaboration with influential figures to attract new donors and ensure continuous donations.

EHS launched a diabetes awareness campaign, which included 16 events across all of its facilities, where 1,142 people benefitted. The campaign included free examinations, as well as medical and counselling support; it achieved outstanding results and enjoyed significant interaction from various members of the community on social media.

The institution also implemented a series of events, activities, and virtual lectures to raise awareness about cervical cancer, benefiting 384 people. It held activities for Gulf Cancer Week with 70 people participating, in addition to activities designed to educate the public on how to prevent colon cancer, where 214 people took part. On the same note, educational activities about early breast cancer screening were organised, including lectures, examinations, and training on breast self-examination.
