Emirates Health Services wins 3 accolades at the ZIMAM-Elsevier Awards 2022

  • EHS won in three categories: Pioneering Clinical Performance, Best Digital Health Initiative, and Best Practices in Supporting the Institutional Innovation Strategy.

Emirates Health Services (EHS) continues to consolidate its leadership and excellence in the field of providing digital health services in line with the highest standards, winning three new accolades at the ZIMAM-Elsevier Awards 2022 during the GCC eHealth Workforce Development Conference.

EHS’ Performance & Clinical Excellence (PaCE) Quality and Outcome Programme (PQOP) – specialised in diabetes – won the award in the Digital Healthcare category, with the institution also winning the Best Digital Health Initiative Award for Workforce Development of the Year for the systems it adopts in implementing training and development best practices, namely its ‘Maharati’ programme. Last but not least, EHS won in the Best Practices in Supporting Institutional Innovation Strategy category with its ‘Afkari’ programme.

Dr. Essam Al Zarouni, Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at EHS, said: “Winning of prestigious awards is a continuation of the series of regional and international honours Emirates Health Services has earned, in line with its vision to implement advanced preventive measures, provide top-quality health services that adhere to international best practices, and accomplish its strategy to promote health and better quality of life.”

For her part, Dr. Kalthoum Al Balushi, Chief Innovation Officer and Director of the Training and Development Centre at EHS, asserted: “Emirates Health Services’ continued achievements form part of our effort to pursue a comprehensive and integrated strategy that establishes a culture of innovation in the work environment, adopts creative thinking as a way of life, ensures our readiness for the future, and provides comprehensive and integrated healthcare in innovative and sustainable ways that protect society from disease.”

“We are committed to implementing international standards in managing infrastructure across our health facilities, and building up our quality and safety systems in line with best practices,” Dr. Al Balushi added. “We strive to provide administrative services that meet strict standards of quality, efficiency, and transparency, all the while spearheading digital progress and channelling the abundance of technological services towards promoting a culture of innovation. Our objective is to develop innovative, modern, and sustainable medical treatments for various diseases, in addition to enhancing the quality and efficiency of treatments across our various facilities for many diseases, such as diabetes, among others.”

The (PaCE) Quality and Outcome Programme specialising in diabetes includes a wide-ranging system for the use of digital health records designed to drive improvements in healthcare and enhance the results of services provided to patients. The programme was designed to help the medical community evaluate their practices using digital tools in order to improve service management for diabetes patients.

Meanwhile, the Maharti programme consists of a unified smart e-learning platform and an integrated system for training and knowledge management that combines a digital library, online and live training, and a competency management system.

The ‘Afkari’ programme, on the other hand, is a digital innovation management platform allowing EHS employees, partners, and customers, who share the same vision to work together remotely and bring innovations to life to address challenges, develop ideas, and test prototypes. Moreover, the programme includes advanced features to drive innovation across all organisational levels.

Emirates Health Services won two gold awards at the Patient Safety Congress 2022, which was held in Dubai last month. EHS’ (PaCE) Quality and Outcome Programme won in the Sustainable Quality and Patient Safety Initiative category, while the Electronic Unit for Obesity Surgery project won in the Advanced Healthcare Technology Initiative category.
