Iconic Nokia 3310 turned into a cake

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, celebrates their 5 th birthday with a Nokia 3310 cake

A hyper-realist cake of the much-loved and iconic Nokia 3310 in red, has been unveiled to celebrate HMD, the home of Nokia phones, fifth birthday.

HMD Global is the Finnish company responsible for making Nokia phones including much loved icons like the Nokia 3310, and new durable smartphones including the Nokia XR20 which is built to survive everything life throws at it.

The life-size Nokia 3310 cake took 40 hours to make and was created by world renowned sugar artist Michelle Wibowo. The inside of the cake is made up of chocolate sponge and vanilla buttercream, and the famous durable Nokia 3310 case is made with a sugar shell casing. Each button has been cut and molded to perfection and added to the case individually.

HMD Global re-released the Nokia 3310 with a modern twist in 2017 to the delight of Nokia fans around the world. The custom designed user interface brings a fresh look to a classic, and of course, it has everything you'd expect from a Nokia phone, from a long-lasting battery and a durable design to the legendary mobile phone game, Snake.

Stephen Taylor, CMO of HMD Global said: “We are incredibly proud of how far we've come in the past five years. Thank you to our fans, employees, customers, partners and suppliers who have each played a critical role in helping HMD reach this five-year milestone, with a view to many more to come.”

Sanmeet Singh Kochhar, Vice President of HMD Global (MENA & India), said: “HMD Global has achieved phenomenal growth in the past five years, with the best of the phone ecosystem - thanks mainly to our patrons and everyone in our stakeholder chain. As we mark this important milestone, we aim to accelerate our company's mission to make 5G smartphones more accessible globally while expanding into priority markets.”

Michelle Wibowo added: “It was a pleasure to turn such an iconic phone into a cake. It took lots of testing to get it perfect but I'm thrilled with the result.”
