IHCC, Batterjee Foundation and King Abdulaziz University collaborate to promote talent development and job creation

The ‘Tawal’ Interior Design Competition, a partnership between King Abdulaziz University and IHCC; is one of the social responsibility initiatives in cooperation with Bait Al Batterjee (BAB) for community service, which comes under an umbrella of initiatives undertaken by the company to focus on local content within the framework of its social and environmental contributions, and most specifically towards creating job opportunities for graduates.

Earlier this year, IHCC signed an agreement with King Fahad University aimed towards enhancing the spirit of cooperation between the educational sector and the private sector. The launch of the ‘Tawal’ Design Competition has been a prime example of the joint efforts to promote innovation in design and talent development as part of the agreement. ‘Tawal’ was launched commencing with the participation of 10 female contestants who underwent a series of events, exhibitions, activities, educational discussions, and interactive workshops. Three contestants were qualified for the final round held on October 23, 2022, where the competition took place among the students to design a residential villa that highlights their creative ideas while applying the full criteria set forth by the competition.

Expressing his keenness of the competition, CEO of IHCC, Sultan Sobhi Batterjee said, “We are thrilled to be part of this competition. Youth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia should be acknowledged for their limitless potential that can be developed endlessly and directed towards building the future of the country. As industry leaders, it is our responsibility to recognize local talent and empower women the younger generations with the opportunities and tools they need to spearhead innovation. The competition comes among other initiatives undertaken by the company within the framework of our social and environmental contributions, and to create job opportunities for graduates in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.”

Dr. Hanan Jambi, Dean of Human Science and Design college-Girls section at King Abdulaziz University, commended the partnership with IHCC saying, “We are very excited to be working with IHCC as part of our long-term commitment to providing dynamic initiatives for young talent at King Abdulaziz University.”

In the presence of a group of experts in the field of interior design, the final winner was selected through a judging panel comprised of the IHCC design team, King Abdulaziz University representatives, Dr. Ruba Shaheen and Engineer Bara'a Moghaddam, and CEO of IHCC, Sultan Sobhi Batterjee. The panel evaluated each of the entries through a specific project evaluation metric based on quality, design concept, design narrative and design execution.

The winner, Ghosoun Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, will get the chance to receive one-on-one training and mentorship with IHCC. This opportunity will allow them to get a unique professional experience and valuable insight by working alongside one of the industry’s leading design and build teams. The second-place winner, Yasmine Imam, was also given a training opportunity due to the quality and innovation of her designs. Furthermore, the third-place winner, Rana Suhail Al-Buraim, was notably honored for the quality of design and innovation.

Through this initiative, IHCC guarantees to reduce the gap and build a common ground for academic cooperation and strategic partnership with the labor market through positive competition to advance academic education outcomes and its application on the ground. Through dynamic interaction between female students and professional specialists, highlighting and supporting the creative and distinguished caliber among female students was the key behind supporting the ‘Tawal’ Interior Design Competition.
