Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary-General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has affirmed that the UAE’s private sector plays a pivotal role in boosting cooperation in trade and investment with countries of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
He made this statement during his meeting with Fazal Shaikh, Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IORBF), who is currently visiting the country.
Held at Expo 2020 Dubai, the meeting discussed ways to enhance trade and investment across IORA countries, and identifying challenges hindering the free flow of trade between member states.
It also explored possible actions to be taken to bolster trade exchanges and investment in five key areas, namely streamlining trade exchanges and investment, SMEs, women’s economic empowerment, investment in goods and services and UAE’s business model.
