Karpowership stopped supplying Lebanon with electricity from its two Powerships Fatmagül Sultan and Orhan Bey, moored off the Jiyeh and Zouk power plants respectively, as its contract expired this morning. Karpowership will inform the Lebanese people through the media of the withdrawal process of its two Powerships respectively, in due course.
“As of 1st of October, our contract with EDL has come to an end and as such we will begin the process of shutting down the two Powerships. We are acutely aware of the country’s ongoing energy crisis. During our eight years operating in Lebanon, despite all the challenges we have done all we can to support the Lebanese people as the government addresses fundamental challenges the country faces. We wish for the very best for the Prime Minister, his government and the country in the coming months and years.” company spokesperson said.
Karpowership has been operating its two Powerships since 2013, providing Lebanon with one of the most economical and reliable energy sources, generating about 370 megawatts, or 25% of the total energy production in Lebanon, being the equivalent of 4-6 hours of electricity supply per day.
