LiveWell with Nakheel initiative delves into topic of mind health

  • LiveWell with Nakheel collaborates with wellness and health experts to strengthen wellbeing across Dubai communities
  • Building thriving communities helps foster mind health and wellbeing for everyone

LiveWell with Nakheel, a community health and wellness initiative across Nakheel’s communities in Dubai, has announced its latest community event. On 24th September 2022 at Sal’s Bistro, Jumeirah Islands Pavilion, LiveWell Founder Irina Sharma will be discussing mind health with clinical health psychologist, Dr. Melanie Schlatter. They will discuss taking a proactive stance to improve, maintain and nurture our mind health, to ensure that we live healthy, productive, and meaningful lives.

Clinical health psychologist, Dr. Melanie Schlatter, said: “Much of my work involves helping adults cope with stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief, sleep difficulties, struggles with everyday life, and the initial shock of a disease or illness diagnosis. I am excited to raise awareness at LiveWell with Nakheel on the importance of seeking help for psychological difficulties, and to decrease stigma and shame associated with seeing a psychologist too. It is wonderful when someone wants to master their challenges so they can experience a more meaningful life and the feeling of being in much greater control.”

Disseminating information about health and wellness and generating the right kind of awareness amongst the public leads to healthier communities. The effects of our mind health are experienced in every aspect of our lives. Our moods, physical health, and social relationships help us cope better with adversity and unexpected hurdles. Educating the general public about the choices one can take to improve their wellbeing is the focus of the LiveWell with Nakheel initiative, which caters to a multicultural, health-conscious society.

Francis Giani, Chief Community Management Officer at Nakheel, said: “At Nakheel, the wellbeing of our communities is a top priority. The topic of mind health is central to fostering health and wellness among our residents. This event is one of many upcoming initiatives that will bring our residents and the wider public together to explore important and relevant topics to help enhance people’s quality of life.”

“Being part of a community can positively impact mental health and wellbeing and provide a sense of belonging and social connectedness. There are no quick fixes for good mind or physical health. What works is developing healthy habits in our daily lives, that help us to feel okay and able to cope with everything. During the mind health interactive session, we will touch upon selfcare practices for a balanced mental and emotional state and contributing meaningfully to the community we live in,” said LiveWell Founder, Irina Sharma.

This event, focusing on mind health, offers a safe space for anyone with an interest or who has experienced challenges in this area to reach out and connect with others, as Dr. Melanie navigates through her unique experiences as a psychologist and shares information and practical techniques and tips to help enable attendees to manage and improve their mind health.

The LiveWell with Nakheel event is on Saturday 24 September, from 10.30am – 12.30pm, at Sal’s Bistro, Jumeirah Islands Pavilion. Entrance is free, advance booking is required.
