Masdar’s Youth 4 Sustainability Initiative Wins Prestigious Energy Heroes Award 2025

Y4S named ‘Innovator of the Year’ for Middle East and North Africa region in Sustainable Energy for All’s Energy Heroes Awards 2025

Masdar’s Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) initiative, has been named ‘Innovator of the Year’ for Middle East and North Africa region in the Energy Heroes Awards 2025, recognizing its leadership in empowering the next generation of sustainability champions.

Presented by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), the award celebrates Y4S's outstanding contribution to equipping young people with the skills and knowledge needed to drive energy transformation and build a sustainable future. Y4S is a global initiative that invests in and actively supports the development of young people.

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, said, “We are honored to be recognized in SEforALL’s prestigious Energy Heroes Award 2025, which is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire Y4S team and, more importantly, to the transformative power of the young people it supports. We are empowering young people to become agents of change, driving innovation and creating a more sustainable world for all.”

Y4S achieves its objectives through a comprehensive suite of programs. The Sustainability Ambassadors (SA) program is a year-long program aimed at senior high-school students (aged 15-18), designed to enable them to become sustainability champions through skills training, work experience, and networking opportunities. The Future Sustainability Leaders (FSL) program is a year-long initiative connecting university students and young professionals (aged 19-35) with global business leaders, policymakers, and technology pioneers.

SEforALL, launched by former United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2011, is an international organization working in partnership with the UN, governments, the private sector, financial institutions and civil society to drive action on the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 7, which calls for universal access to sustainable energy by 2030, and the Paris Agreement goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
