Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) is once again bringing hope and positivity through their world famous Relay for Life event that supports cancer patients, their families, caregivers, and the champions of the disease, the survivors. This year there will be a dedicated pavilion called the “Warriors Zone” to give a platform for these role models to share their experiences and heroic achievement through overcoming the disease, providing positive reinforcement for all those currently dealing with the condition.
The 24-hour multidisciplinary relay and cancer fundraising event is celebrating their third edition and will take place this year at Kshisha Park in Al Rahmaniyah, Sharjah on 10th December 2022.
Through the experience, stories and advice that these heroes will deliver at the “Warriors Zone”, it will prove that overcoming the disease is achievable, that patients are not alone in their journey. These warriors will also enlighten all attendees to the event about the challenges that cancer patients and their families face at various stages of the disease.
To spread hope, especially among the patients, FOCP will also be showcasing a book called ‘Survivors’, a collection of true stories written by those who have been victorious in their experience with cancer and will contain heroic accounts of triumph.
Reading sessions from the inspirational book will take place during the event at the “Warriors Zone” pavilion by the survivors who wrote them, as they share their heroic stories of success, tips and valuable advice. This will serve as a guide to cancer patients facing the challenges of treatment and is based on survivors’ personal experiences of successfully navigating their way to a brighter tomorrow. It will also shed light on the role played by organisations, the community of caregivers and compassionate individuals who help patients face the challenges ahead in their journey towards a full recovery.
The theme for the event this edition is “Ready, Set, Live” and will support patients, caregivers and the important role models and champions of Cancer, the survivors. These warriors are a vital element in bringing hope and positivity to those currently facing the disease, as well as caregivers that dedicate their lives to supporting the ones who need it most.
