Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) hosted a gathering with residents and visitors of Arjan and Al Barsha South neighbourhoods as part of its commitment to direct community engagement. The session aimed to gather feedback on local road and transport needs. Its also served to highlight key initiatives, ongoing development projects, and plans designed to enhance the area's road and transport network efficiency for both residents and visitors.
Through its Customer Councils, RTA seeks to listen to public opinions, understand their future expectations, and address challenges firsthand. By fostering open dialogue, RTA works towards implementing innovative solutions that cater to the diverse needs of all community members.
Held at Dubai Science Park, the session was chaired by Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency and Chairman of the Customer Council. Attendees included Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency; Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency; and several senior officials from various RTA sectors and agencies.
Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Acting Director of Traffic at the Traffic and Roads Agency, reviewed the most prominent projects currently being implemented, including: developing the Hessa Street, developing Umm Suqeim Street, Al Fay Street development project, adding bicycle lanes in Arjan and Al Barsha South, and other development projects that serve the visitors and residents of the area.
Attendees commended RTA’s efforts in mitigating traffic congestion, particularly through expanding road access, constructing underpasses, and upgrading road infrastructure. Several recommendations were raised during the discussion, including increasing the availability of residential parking spaces, designating specific time slots for heavy vehicles to reduce their impact on traffic flow, and expanding internal roads.
Residents expressed satisfaction with the Customer Council initiative, praising RTA’s commitment to promptly addressing community concerns. They reaffirmed their willingness to collaborate with RTA to develop tailored solutions that enhance the quality of life in Dubai.
