Six winners awarded prizes worth up to AED10,000 at Shams Business Centre
Sharjah Media City (Shams) concluded recently the Shams eSports Tournaments, awarding six winners who succeeded during the two tournaments on September 10 and 11.
Sixty players from different age groups participated in the tournaments competing in Super Smash Bros and Street Fighters V in a competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere, which culminated in awarding the top three winners in the two games with a prize pool of AED10,000.
The finals were attended by His Excellency Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams) and Directors and Managers from Sharjah Media City (Shams).
The three winners in the Super Smash Bros tournament were Ahmed Al Ashrafy, Khamis Ehab Saad, and Ahmed Al Hashimi. In the Street Fighters tournament, Rashid Al Awadhi, Hashim Ahmed Hashim, and Juma Khamis Al Ghaithi were awarded for their win.
H.E. Dr. Khalid Al Midfa said: “We are pleased to launch the Shams eSports Tournament, hosting dozens of players at Shams Business Centre. At Shams, we are keen on supporting the eSports sector due to their rapid growth rates and huge popularity globally. Our goal is to strengthen and develop this sector within Shams, and to present eSports tournaments in an advanced and innovative way in the UAE. We are certainly keen on organising similar tournaments in the future and attracting a larger segment of players.”
His Excellency added: "We congratulate the winners and reaffirm that Shams is continuing its path towards developing the eSports sector, and will continue, through organising eSports tournaments, to make Sharjah Media City a main hub for a new eSports community then expanding and transforming Shams into a leading eSports centre in the UAE and the region”.
Earlier this year, Shams hosted the "FIFA 2022" eSports tournament in cooperation with the UAE eSports Federation, awarding three winners with AED10,000 cash prizes.
