L.A.’s Finest Seasons 1-2, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

The crime-comedy and a spin-off series of the Bad Boys films follows Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union) who has seemingly left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom with an equally complex history, Syd is forced to confront how her unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret. Syd and Nancy become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other’s lives.

The Good Doctor Season 4, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

Dr. Shaun Murphy played by Freddie Highmore, is a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital's surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, his only advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman, played by Richard Schiff, challenges the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital's board and staff when he brings him in to join the team. Shaun will need to work harder than he ever has before, as he navigates his new environment and relationships to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.

 

Alex Rider Season 2, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

When Alex Rider learns that his uncle Ian has been killed in the line of duty as a British spy - and not in a car accident like he's been told - everything changes for this otherwise normal teen. He is approached by Alan Blunt, head of a shadowy offshoot of MI6 known as The Department, who reveals that Alex has been unknowingly trained since childhood for the dangerous world of espionage. Pressured to help investigate his uncle's death - and how it connects to the assassination of two high-profile billionaires - Alex reluctantly assumes a new identity and goes undercover in a remote boarding school called Point Blanc.  The second season will follow the events of Horowitz’s fourth Alex Rider novel, Eagle Strike.

 

Pennyworth Season 2, streaming on December 18

Pennyworth explores the early life of the titular Wayne family butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who is forming his own security company in an alternate universe in which Hitler and Nazi Germany won World War II, and in which London combines aspects of the 1950s and 1960s with invented events and practices, such as a modern civil war and televised public executions.

 

Crime, drama and action

Power Book II: Ghost Seasons 1-2, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

In the first season, we saw Tariq St. Patrick on his own for the first time, navigating his new life, in which his desire to shed his father's legacy comes up against the mounting pressure to save his family. Along the way, Tariq gets entangled in the affairs of the cutthroat Tejada family, adding further complications as he tries to balance his drug operations with his education, love life and family affairs. In season 2, Tariq's journey with the Tejada family will get even more complicated and dangerous, as he begins to understand the man he's going to become.  

 

Billions Seasons 1-5, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

Billions is a complex, intricate narrative that takes a forensic look at New York City’s world of high finance. The Girl in the Spider’s Web, coming soon to STARZPLAY

Fired from the National Security Agency, Frans Balder recruits hacker Lisbeth Salander to steal FireWall, a computer programme that can access codes for nuclear weapons worldwide. The download soon draws attention from an NSA agent who traces the activity to Stockholm. Further problems arise when Russian thugs take Lisbeth's laptop and kidnap a math whiz who can make FireWall work. Now, Lisbeth and an unlikely ally must race against time to save the boy and recover the codes to avert disaster.

 

The Hunt for The Chicago Strangler, streaming from December 16th on the Discovery+ add on channel on STARZPLAY

In Chicago, an alarming number of unsolved strangulations of mostly black women has the community on edge. Police say they have not connected the cases, but activists and family members believe something sinister is haunting their city.

 

Turkish Series

Shiqqat Al Abriya, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

This Turkish drama tells the story of a young man who returns home from the US to look after his emotionally damaged sisters. He almost forgets what happiness feels like, until love knocks on his door.

 

Comedy

Young Sheldon Seasons 1-3, currently streaming on STARZPLAY

Narrated by adult Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, the series follows the 9-year-old Sheldon as he skips four grades to start high-school. With the help of his family, Sheldon steers through a hot steaming pile of social challenges.
