Tourism In Hyderabad: The City That Can Mesmerise You

Hyderabad, the capital and also the largest city of the state of Telangana. The whole city is spread around 250 square miles on the Deccan Plateau along the banks of river Musi in the northern part. The whole of Hyderabad is on hilly terrain and surrounded by artificial lakes, which includes Hussain Sagar Lake.

 

In 2011, according to the Census of India, Hyderabad is fourth on the list of most populated cities in India with a population of over 6.5 million within the city and 9.7 million residents in the metropolitan area, which also makes Hyderabad, the sixth most populated metropolitan city in India as well. 

 

Hyderabad has a very long and rich history, Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah first established Hyderabad in the year 1591 so that he can expand his capital beyond Golconda. In the year 1687, the Mughals annexed the city. In 1724, the Mughal Viceroy Nizam Asaf Jah 1 declared his rule and founded the Asaf Jahi Dynasty which was also known as Nizams. From the years 1769 to 1948, Hyderabad was under Asaf Jahi’s rule. 

 

Before Independence, Hyderabad was the home of British Residency and cantonment till 1947. It was annexed by the Indian Union in 1948 and still continued as the capital of Hyderabad state till 1956. After the State Recognition Act in 1956, the city was declared as the capital of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh.  

 

Till the 19th century, the city was quite famous for its Pearl industry and it was also named “City Of Pearls”. It was also the one and only trade centre in the world for Golconda diamonds. 

 

Hyderabad is quite a famous place for tourism. Lots of people from all over the world come here to visit either for vacation or even for work purposes also.
