UK based Indian origin girl breaks the current world record to become the youngest to name all the 195 capitals and currencies of the world.

UK: An 8 year old girl based in Wales - United Kingdom has created history by being the youngest to confidently recite all the capitals and the corresponding currencies for all the 195 countries across the world.

Originally from Cochin (Kerala - India) with her father’s family settled in Dubai over the last 45 years. Anne and her family are currently settled in Cardiff (Wales - United Kingdom)

Anne Winston, a year 3 student at Pontprennau Primary School, based in Cardiff; UK created this landmark achievement in a live streamed event organised by OMG Book of World Records with avid support from her friends and family who tuned in from different parts of the world including UK, USA, India, Dubai, Canada, Australia, Romania etc amongst others.

The previous record in the same category was held by a 10 year old girl and with Anne’s successful attempt, it makes her the youngest record holder and beating the current title by age. Representatives from OMG Book of Records were present at the online event and presented Anne with her certificate live on air after she broke the record.

Anne’s parents who are from Kerala; India and her dad was born in Dubai where his family reside were beaming with pride at their young daughter’s achievement. Her journey started when she was 3 years old when en-route her daily journey to nursery and eventually school, her dad would tell her about all the various countries across the world.

This sparked her interest to learn more about their capitals and subsequently their currencies. Speaking to her parents, Mr Winston Jacob and Mrs Jincy Winston, they said “from a very young age we noticed Anne had a talent for retaining information and all we did was further feed into that. At no point in our journey till now did we even dream of attempting a world record, let alone achieving it”. Words cannot describe our emotions and joy and we truly hope that this leads to her achieving greater heights in the future”.

What makes this achievement spectacular is her entire knowledge was self taught over a period of 4 years.

Speaking with Anne, she said, “ I am really delighted to have achieved this world record which I did as a dedication to my lovely grandfather who passed away recently. I hope my attempt inspires many other children across the world and makes a positive difference. I want to thank my family, teachers, friends and all well wishers and all who have supported me throughout my journey to make this possible

My learning was quite casual initially on a weekly basis where I used to spend 15 - 20 minutes learning a new set of capitals and currencies. Towards the end, I was practising on a daily basis”

Her certificate was felicitated by Dr Dinesh Gupta and Dr Anita Gupta from OMG Book of Records.
