With a focus on offsetting carbons emission, Arab Aviation Summit partners with CHOOOSE

The Arab Aviation Summit (AAS), the region’s leading aviation and tourism industry event, today announced a partnership agreement with climate technology company CHOOOSE, to calculate and offset its carbon emissions at its milestone 10th event, taking place from March 6 to 8, 2023 at Al Hamra International Exhibition & Conference Centre in Ras Al Khaimah.

This partnership makes AAS the world's first aviation and tourism event to calculate carbon emissions and to empower its attendees with the knowledge and opportunity to offset their own carbon emissions, underlining the summit’s wider commitment to proactively addressing the impacts of climate change.

Taking place in Ras Al Khaimah for the third consecutive row, event participants will be able to calculate their estimated impact on the environment at registration and address their carbon emissions by opting for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) or carbon offset schemes from certified and verified sources monitored by CHOOOSE.

The partnership between AAS and CHOOOSE will enable key data on different emission sources to be measured, including flight and land transportation and local emissions. This data will provide participants with a clearer picture of their environmental impacts and will allow them to make more considered decisions. The AAS itself will also participate in offsetting the emissions from the event through the data produced by this partnership.

The aviation and tourism industry are actively working on reducing emissions to zero in the coming decades and has heavily invested in research and development to aid this ambition into becoming an on-the-ground reality. This commitment is also in line with strategic partner Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority’s goal in becoming the Regional Leader in Sustainable Tourism by 2025.

Frederico Fernandes, Arab Aviation Summit Director, said: “The Arab Aviation Summit has a long tradition of showcasing leadership insights and industry best practices propelling innovation, and designing new trends inbound and outbound in the Middle East. The Summit is an ecosystem designed to disrupt the industry's accelerated businesses and decision-making connections; therefore, it is our responsibility to address, influence and lead climate change.

We searched for the best partner for this new era of business meetings. CHOOOSE is already helping decarbonise major industry players and will allow all AAS participants to assist the event with sustainability in mind, fully aware of the impact and with a tool to reduce it. We will work together to go as far as making a carbon-free event, contributing to better aviation and tourism for all.”

Andreas Slettvoll, CEO, CHOOOSE, said: “We are very happy to partner with the Arab Aviation Summit to provide climate solutions to all attendees. We see a lot of innovation happening in this area of the world, and together we are bringing climate and sustainability to the top of the agenda."

AAS 2023 participants can look forward to industry workshops and high-profile industry leaders addressing regional and international practices across tourism, aviation, airports and more. For updates on the Summit: www.arabaviationsummit.net | Twitter: @AAviationSummit
