WVS teams up with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)

The World Vape Show (next taking place in Dubai on 16-18 June 2022 and then in London on 01-02 December 2022) are delighted to announce their joint work with The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) with immediate effect.

WVS will become the most compliant vape event after reaching a collaboration agreement, the first and currently only of its kind, with the UK regulator. Working closely together, WVS and the MHRA will put the tools in place to ensure exhibitors are compliant with UK regulations. This will give retailers and buyers the confidence to make purchases, knowing they are buying quality products that are legal for supply across the UK.

Jake Nixon, Event Director of the World Vape Show said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to announce our collaboration with the MHRA and have them endorse the World Vape Show’s UK events. With the UK leading the way in terms of government bodies supporting the vape industry, we are very happy to support this mission and continue to educate our audiences all over the world.”

Dr Laura Squire, MHRA Chief Healthcare Quality and Access Officer, said:

“This and further collaborations are an important step towards the availability of fully compliant e-cigarette products in the UK market. We are working to progressively engage with similar shows in the future, so we can make sure that companies that exhibit their products at these events are compliant with the UK regulations.”

Notes

  1. The MHRA is the Competent Authority for the notification scheme for e-cigarettes and refill containers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and is responsible for implementing the majority of provisions under Part 6 of the Tobacco and related Products Regulations (TRPR) and the Tobacco Products and Nicotine Inhaling Products (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020. The MHRA is also responsible for regulating nicotine-containing products (NCPs) as medicinal products in the UK. These are intended to relieve or prevent craving and nicotine withdrawal symptoms when tobacco smokers wish to quit or reduce smoking. The MHRA seeks to encourage the licensing of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and other inhaled NCPs as medicines and aims to support companies to submit marketing authorisation applications for these products.
